Run history
From smallholdings in Limpopo to farms across the Karoo and plots in the Western Cape — the same frustrating problems repeat themselves every season.
Unnecessary trips to switch the pump
You drive out to the plot just to flip the borehole switch. Fuel. Time. Effort. To do something that could take two seconds from your couch.
R100–R500 per round tripPump left running — tank overflows for hours
Nobody switched the pump off. The tank is full and overflowing. Wasted electricity, wasted water, borehole hours burning for nothing.
Wasted pump time every eventLivestock without water while you're in town
The tank runs dry and the pump is off — and you're two hours away. By the time you get there, your animals have been without water for hours.
Livestock stress · potential lossesNo idea if the pump is actually running
You switched it on remotely — or did you? You can't tell. So you drive out anyway. The whole point of remote control defeated by not knowing the status.
Wasted trip · lost confidenceWhen you switch your borehole on or off, the Real Hey I switch confirms it to you immediately via WhatsApp. No app to install. No notifications to enable. Just a WhatsApp, the way you already communicate every day.
You can also set status alerts — so if the pump trips, loses power, or stops unexpectedly, you get a WhatsApp message telling you something's wrong. Know immediately. Act before it becomes a problem.
WhatsApp alerts are sent via a free notification service — set up once with your phone number and forget about it. No ongoing cost. No subscription. We chose a free service deliberately so there's nothing to add to your monthly bills.
Designed for South African conditions. Simple to install, simple to use, built to run reliably year after year.
Switch your borehole pump on or off from anywhere — open a browser on your phone, tap the button, done. No app download required.
Get a WhatsApp the moment something changes — pump on, pump off, trip detected. Always know what's happening without being there.
See exactly when the pump ran and for how long. Useful for spotting irregular patterns, tracking electricity usage, and diagnosing problems early.
Farm hands or family members can view the pump status without being able to switch it on or off — settings are protected by a password you set.
The unit restarts automatically after any power outage — whether the power comes back from the grid, an inverter, a generator, or solar. No intervention needed.
Control works on your local WiFi network — even if your fibre or LTE is down. No cloud. No server. No monthly fee. Your control stays on your property.
You don't need to be an electrician. If you can plug something in and follow a short guide, you can install this yourself.
Wire the switch unit into your pump circuit
The switch unit wires in-line with your existing borehole pump supply. It comes with a pre-made wiring harness and clear step-by-step instructions. Standard single-phase connection.
Mount the unit near the pump or DB board
The compact weatherproof unit mounts on any wall near your pump house or distribution board. Power it with any standard 230V wall plug.
Connect to your WiFi
Follow the simple setup steps on your phone to connect the unit to your WiFi network. Takes about five minutes. No IT knowledge needed.

Wherever your borehole is and wherever you go when you're away from it — this switch closes the gap.

Early customers
"I used to drive out every day just to switch the borehole on for a few hours, and then back out again to switch off — if I remembered to. Now I do it from my phone while I'm having coffee. Haven't driven out unnecessarily in months." — Plot owner, Hartbeespoort
"The status alert told me the pump had tripped before I even knew there was a problem. Sorted it remotely in ten minutes. Previously that would have been a whole day lost." — Smallholder, Magaliesberg area

For remote control from outside your property — yes, both your phone and the unit need internet connectivity at the time you issue the command. On your local WiFi network, the control dashboard works even without an active internet connection.
For WhatsApp alerts to reach you when you're away, both your home WiFi and your phone need internet. If your property internet goes down, the switch still holds its last state — the pump won't randomly switch on or off.
The unit shuts down with the power and restarts automatically when power is restored — whether from the grid, an inverter, a generator, or solar. No intervention needed. The switch returns to its last known state on restart.
You'll also get a WhatsApp notification when the unit comes back online, so you always know when power has been restored at the property.
The unit wires in-line with your existing borehole pump supply — standard single-phase. The installation guide covers the process step by step with clear diagrams. If you're comfortable with basic electrical work and wiring a plug, you can do this.
If you'd rather not work with electrical wiring, our managed installation option includes professional on-site installation — contact us for a quote.
The unit uses a free third-party WhatsApp notification service to send alerts directly to your registered phone number. Setup takes about two minutes — register your number once in the Settings tab and from that point alerts go straight to your WhatsApp. No ongoing cost. No subscription.
The unit needs to be within range of your WiFi router or access point. If your pump house is near the homestead, it's likely fine. If it's further out, you may need a WiFi extender or outdoor access point — an inexpensive addition and we'll advise what's needed for your specific layout.
We also have long-range wireless solutions available that can reach up to 3km from the homestead — completely wire-free, no cable trenching required. Contact us to find out more.
Yes — one switch unit per borehole, each completely independent with its own dashboard. Name them whatever makes sense: "Main borehole," "North field," "Cattle supply." Multi-unit pricing is available on request.
When you're ready to scale up, our upgrade paths bring all your devices into one combined platform — every pump, every tank, every alert in a single view.
Yes — and this is where it really gets useful. The tank monitor tells you what's in the tank; the borehole switch lets you act on that information without being there. Pair them together and you can top up your tank from your phone the moment you see it dropping.
Our Pump Saver system takes this even further — automatically starting and stopping the pump based on tank levels, monitoring motor health 24/7, and alerting you 2–3 weeks before a motor failure. Visit realheyi.com/pricing to see the full picture.
Email us at info@realheyi.com or WhatsApp us on +27 79 562 5640. We're a small team and we respond personally — not with a ticket number and a chatbot. If you've taken the optional support plan, you can reach us on WhatsApp directly for faster turnaround.
