From smallholdings in Limpopo to townhouse complexes in the Western Cape and farms across the Karoo — the same expensive problems repeat themselves. Not because people don't care. Because they don't know until it's too late.
Tank runs dry — you find out too late
The tank empties while you're in town. By the time someone notices, your livestock have been without water for hours, or the house is dry. A WhatsApp at 20% would have given you time to act.
Livestock risk · household disruptionPump fills the tank — nobody switches it off
Your borehole pump is running and nobody's watching. The tank fills and overflows for hours — wasted electricity, wasted pump hours, and hundreds of litres soaking into the ground. A high-level alert tells you it's time to switch off.
Wasted pump time + electricity every event→ Remote switch lets you turn it off from your phone
Livestock and stock go without water
A stuck ball valve bleeds your tank while you're at work in town. The troughs run dry. By the time you realise, it's been two days. The damage to your animals is irreversible.
Potentially thousands in stock lossesUnnecessary check trips
You drive out to the plot every few days just to check the gauge. Fuel, time, effort — to look at a number and drive home again. Over a year that adds up to a real cost.
R100–R500 per round tripWhen your tank drops below the level you've set, the Realheyi monitor sends you a WhatsApp message directly to your phone. No app to install. No notifications to enable. Just a WhatsApp, the way you already communicate every day.
You can also set a high-level alert — so when your borehole pump has filled the tank, you get a WhatsApp to say it's time to switch the pump off. No more overflows, no more running the pump for nothing.
WhatsApp alerts are sent via a free notification service — set up once in the Settings tab with your phone number and forget about it. Alerts go to one registered number. No cost. No subscription. We chose a free service specifically so there's nothing to add to your monthly bills.
Designed for South African conditions — from Karoo heat to Cape Coast humidity. Simple to install, simple to use, and built to run reliably year after year.
Open any browser on your phone — no app download required — and see your exact tank level, updated continuously. Works on any smartphone, anywhere on your WiFi network.
See whether your level is stable, rising, or dropping — and how fast. A stuck float valve or a slow leak shows up as an unusual rate of change, giving you time to act before things go wrong.
Set your own thresholds. When the level crosses them, you get a WhatsApp message and a browser alarm. You decide what counts as low or high — nobody else's idea of "enough water" gets imposed on you.
Change your tank depth, alert thresholds, and tank name from the Settings tab — protected by a password so farm hands or family members can view the level without changing anything.
The dashboard adjusts to whatever's easier on your eyes. Dark mode for checking at night when load shedding has just come back on, light mode for use in bright conditions outdoors.
As long as your phone is connected to the same WiFi as the monitor, the dashboard works — even if your fibre or LTE is down. No cloud. No server. No monthly fee. Your data stays on your property.
The monitor is designed to come back up automatically after any power outage — so even during Stage 4 or Stage 6, you pick up right where you left off. Works with any UPS, solar backup, or inverter setup.
You don't need to be technical. If you can plug something in and follow a short guide, you can install the Realheyi monitor.
Lower the sensor into your tank
The sensor cable goes down to the bottom of the tank. It's waterproof and measures water pressure to give an accurate depth reading.
Mount the monitor unit nearby
The small monitor unit sits in your pump house or on any nearby wall. Wire the cable in — it comes pre-made. Power it with any standard wall plug.
Connect to your WiFi
Follow the simple setup steps on your phone to connect the monitor to your property's WiFi network. Takes about five minutes.
Set your tank depth and alerts
Enter your tank's depth in the Settings tab. Set your low-level and high-level alert thresholds. Add your WhatsApp number for alerts. Done.
Wherever you store water and wherever you go when you're away from it — this monitor closes the gap.
Farmers and game farmers
Monitor storage tanks, game troughs, and field reservoirs without driving the bakkie out every day.
Smallholders and plot owners
Keep an eye on your JoJo tank or storage reservoir from your phone — even when you're in town during the week.
Townhouse and estate complexes
Know the level of your communal backup tank at all times. Get an alert before the water cuts out during high demand.
Holiday homes and weekend plots
Check your water situation before you drive out. No more arriving at the weekend place to find no water.
Borehole users
Know exactly what's in your header or storage tank at all times — so you run the pump when it's needed and stop it before you overflow.
Small businesses and lodges
Staff can see the current level at a glance. Management gets WhatsApp alerts without needing to be on site.
Early customers
"I used to lie awake worrying about the tank on the plot. Now I check my phone before I go to sleep — one look and I know exactly what's there. The low-level alert has already saved me a wasted trip out at least twice." — Smallholder, Magaliesberg area
"I used to drive out every Tuesday just to check the gauge. Now I check my phone while I'm having coffee. The high-level alert alone has saved me running the pump for nothing at least three times." — Plot owner, Hartbeespoort

No. The dashboard works over your local WiFi network — so as long as your phone and the monitor are connected to the same WiFi, it works without an active internet connection. For WhatsApp alerts to reach you, both your home WiFi network and your phone will need internet connectivity at the time the alert is sent. Don't have home WiFi yet? We can help you get that set up affordably too — just ask.
The monitor shuts down with the power and comes back up automatically when power is restored — whether that's from the grid, a generator, an inverter, or a solar backup. No intervention needed. It picks up monitoring exactly where it left off.
Yes. The sensor goes to the bottom of the tank and measures water pressure — it doesn't matter what the tank is made of. It works with JoJo tanks, concrete reservoirs, steel tanks, fibreglass tanks, and underground storage. The only requirement is that the sensor cable can reach the bottom of the tank.
The monitor uses a free third-party WhatsApp notification service to send alerts directly to one registered phone number. Setup takes about two minutes — you register your number once in the Realheyi Settings tab, and from that point alerts go straight to your WhatsApp whenever a threshold is crossed. No ongoing cost, no subscription.
The monitor needs to be within range of your WiFi router or access point. If your tank is in a pump house near the homestead, it's likely fine. If the tank is further out, you may need a WiFi extender or outdoor access point — an inexpensive addition and we'll advise what's needed for your specific layout. We also have long-range wireless solutions available that can reach up to 3km from the homestead — completely wire-free, no trenching required.
Yes — one monitor per tank, each completely independent, with its own dashboard tab on your phone. Name them whatever makes sense: "Main JoJo," "Field Reservoir," "Cattle Trough Feed." Multi-unit pricing is available on request. And when you're ready to scale up, we have upgrade paths that bring all your devices into one combined platform.
Yes — borehole automation is one of our core specialities, and it works hand-in-hand with tank monitoring. The tank monitor tells you what's in the tank; borehole automation goes further by controlling the pump itself based on what the sensor reads.
Our borehole automation systems can:
Distance is not a barrier. We have LoRaWAN-based solutions that can monitor and control a borehole up to 3km from the homestead — completely wirelessly, no cable trenching required. Visit our WiFi Borehole Remote Switch page to see the entry-level option — R3,995, DIY install, works with your tank monitor.
The sensor is submersible with a stainless steel wetted surface — the same type of sensor used in industrial and municipal water monitoring worldwide. We recommend confirming suitability with your water authority or health official if the tank feeds a potable water supply without further treatment.

Every unnecessary check trip, every overflowed tank, every morning you wake up not knowing if there's water — this monitor fixes all of that. DIY kit on sale at R4,995 (usually R5,495) with a 30-day money-back guarantee. No monthly fee.
